Shelley is currently curating an exhibition for Bundaberg Regional Galleries about the talented Gladys Moncrieff.
In 1929, Gladys Moncrieff asked “gallery girl” Elsie Wilson to go on tour with her to help out behind stage as a dresser. That role lasted for 46 wonderful years and over that time, they became life-long companions.
In the installation in the VAULT, step into the dressing room and sit and admire the immeasurable singing talent of Bundaberg-born operetta and musical comedy performer Gladys Moncrieff. Hear first-hand from an ABC interview with Elsie, what it was like to be on the road with Gladys and her journey from humble beginnings in Bundaberg to becoming one of the most famous and loved singers of her time.
On show from 13th November 2021 - 6th February 2022 at the Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery, 1 Barolin Street, Bundaberg.
PUBLIC ART MASTERPLAN
We are working with the Bundaberg Regional Council to develop a 5-year Public Art Masterplan looking at the strategic vision for public art projects and ongoing management practices.
Best Practice Software in Bundaberg tasked The Ideas Distillery with finding a team of local artists to develop a large scale mural on the side of their building that reflected the stories of their company. Bundaberg Region artist Nicole Wone, Taylor Klaasen and Mark Terry have created a wonderful work that tells the story of the company's evolution as a leading medical software company.
Shelley is a project producer, consultant, workshop tutor and mentor through the Flying Arts Alliance By Request Program.
Shelley has worked with local government, not-for-profit arts organisations and individual artists to address their varying needs from policy and planning to career development.
PUBLIC Art FEASIBILITY
We are currently working with the Rotary Club of Gladstone Midday to test the feasibility of a major light projection public artwork as a tourism drawcard and community engagement tool for the region.
FRASERCOAST PUBLIC ART POLICY
We are assisting Fraser Coast Regional Council to develop a Public Art Policy for their region to assist in public art procurement and management processes.
We tailor training for local governments to assist in developing funding writing skills in their communities, particularly focusing on increasing the quality of RADF applications. We are proud to work with Gladstone Regional Council and Lockyer Valley Regional Council to deliver this online!
