It's the end of the year. Time to look back and learn from 2021 and plan to jump into 2022 with renewed vision and energy.
In amongst the craziness of wrapping up the year, I always find it extremely valuable to do some reflection. I do this by going through my business plan and asking some simple questions:
What went really well this year?
Who did I value working with?
What did my clients most value this year?
What didn't go to plan and why?
Are there any opportunities I missed or that are coming up?
What are my business risks over the next 12 months?
Simple questions right? But it is so important to take the time to ask them and genuinely reflect. Without taking onboard these learnings, we can't move forward in an informed and strategic way, developing our art practice, business or organisation with the right balance of creativity and energy. It also helps to assess the risks associated with the activities we intend to pursue over the next 12 months and devise strategies that can make us resilient and balanced in our approach.
One other important question - what are you doing for yourself over the next 12 months?
Burn out in our industry is very real. Make sure you are doing something for yourself. Look back at anything you did this year that worked. Did you do something for yourself this year to renew your energy?
So look back, reflect, adjust that mirror and then hit the accelerator!
