CQ Shopfront is a 2-year project that aims to build the business capacity of Central Queensland artists and makers and assist in finding pathways to product development. There are 17 project partners assisting with the project's delivery and over 400 participating artists. The project is due to be completed at the end of June 2021.
The program begins with a Forum for creatives to network and learn through presentations, panel discussion and the chance to pitch their business models for feedback prior to showcasing their product for wholesale and retail opportunities.
The following day a Trade Fair provides a unique opportunity for makers and buyers to meet. Trade representatives from the retail, agency and gallery sectors are invited to register and attend as scouts to experience exclusive access to a wide range of local creative businesses with wholesale ready products. Stallholders of artists and creative organisations can connect with potential retailers one on one, to promote their wares to companies dealing in homeware, giftware, fashion, accessories, fine art trade, interior decorating and tourism. Participants from the Central Queensland Shopfront program, mentorships and residencies are urged to apply.
After the invited trade guests have their opportunity to connect with stallholders, the stalls will be open for a public market event with products available to purchase direct from the makers.
